The Black Rock Shooter is a girl with a mysterious past and a burning blue eye who faces the forces of the evil Dead Master. Soon, two schoolgirls become embroiled with the Black Rock Shooter and aid the protagonist in her quest.

This anime is similar to the Silent Hill series in that frequent revelations change the plot’s status. It centers around a girl with a connection to a virtual reality world, which she eventually realizes she has control over and also finds out that she’s not who she seems to be.
The overarching mystery of the protagonist’s true identity is kept as the show’s main focus and it’s interesting to uncover the many grand reveals that are progressively handed out. Along the way, the main character matures enough to understand her place in the world to complete her arc.
